Today we are going to talk about simple ways to stay active, even when the weather simply isn’t on your side! Embracing these ideas can help you to avoid gaining weight and losing your motivation as we come to the end of the year. Also, if you have any great ideas of how to stay active this winter then we’d love to hear them!

Work Out at Home

Exercising at home is easy to get started with and doesn’t have to require any special equipment at all! There are so many different exercises that you can do by utilising just your own bodyweight, and these exercises can also be progressed as you get used to them.

There are countless exercise videos online that you can workout to, and doing so can really help you to stay on track as you have someone on your screen to guide you through each session. With such an abundance of content to choose from, you can select a different video for every workout if you want to, or you can find one or more that you love and stick to those.

There is practically no limit to the kind of exercise that you can do at home. You may choose to stick to resistance exercises to build your strength, or you can opt for some cardio by getting yourself some portable equipment, such as a skipping rope or home treadmill. You can also do a wide range of other activities, such as yoga, pilates, circuit training, and more! The key is to engage your imagination and get creative with what it is you can do in the space that you have.

Go to the Gym

If you are reluctant to get out for a walk or a run because it is cold outside, then a seasonal gym pass may be the answer for you.

Cardio Cycling in the Gym

If you prefer not to go to the gym during the warmer months for whatever reason, then it could be worth giving it a go in the winter so that you do not lose momentum with your fitness regime.

Going to the gym doesn’t mean that the kind of exercise that you do has to be any different from what you would usually do. You can take a brisk walk on the treadmill as though you were outside, or get on the cycle machines for a challenging bike ride.

Whilst you are at the gym, you may discover a whole new range of exercises that you wish to have a go at. Having access to a massive variety of equipment, and having the gym instructors at your disposal for advice and inspiration, could motivate you to make positive, healthy changes to your routine!

Get Social

The winter months can be the perfect excuse to hide-away and enjoy some alone time as you opt for cosy nights on the sofa over going out to see friends, but this can soon leaving you feeling lethargic. Although we can all benefit by having some regular alone time to recharge, it is a good idea to make the extra effort to connect with people during the winter.

Getting active and getting social at the same time is the perfect way to stay healthy and happy, and there are so many different ways that you can do this. Group exercise classes are a fantastic choice, and you can look to your local sports centre or gym for their listings.
